R.E.S.P.E.C.T: Find Out What it Means to Me

I must begin by apologizing. I have really been slipping when it comes to my blog posts. I won't make any excuses because though, I have been busy, there have been plenty of opportunities for me to slip in a quick post or 2. I know people enjoy my blogs and I would like to say thank you for being such loyal  readers. I will also say I get PLENTY of hits on my "inspirational" posts but not so many on my COCOTIQUE unboxing posts. I thought more people would be interested because it was interesting for me....lol but I guess everyone isn't as crazy about hair, makeup, polish, and other accessories as I am. With that being said I think I might stop doing unboxing posts. :(  But, don't worry the other stuff will keep coming. :) Question: How important is respect to you? Respect in relationships (Familial, friendship, or romantic relationship)? Receiving respect and giving respect? Watching someone you love disrespect other people? How does it affect your relationships

COCOTIQUE NOVEMBER

HEY EVERYONE!!! I am going to make this review of the box very short and sweet because I haven't tried many of the products and some products I will give away. There are some great products in this box for natural girls and this includes biracial girls with naturally curly hair! So let's get to the review! Below you will find a picture of everything that was in the box! Below you will see 2 items I am very excited about! The Black Radiance Eye Appeal Lasting Mascara. This Mascara is waterproof, tear-proof and smudge proof It lasts up to 8 hours, maximizes length and it has ARGAN OIL ya'll so it moisturizes and conditions too!!! The next item is the Nicka K Jumbo Eyeliner Pen. It's great for creating that lovely cat eye everyone's wearing now...it has a great fine point. I haven't always used eyeliner but now that I've started these pens are a MUST HAVE! They work very well. What's even better is that I just purchased some Nicka K Lipstick and

Spousal Arguments: Sticks and Stones

Hey Everyone!! After this blog I would really like to hear from you regarding the topic I am about to discuss. I would love to hear YOUR opinions and get your feedback. Lately I have had something on my heart.  I have had conversations with other people as well as my husband about "Arguing with your spouse." What's the "right way" to argue? Well, everyone argues very differently and that's fine because no 2 people are exactly the same. What I have learned is that there is no right way to argue but there is a RESPECTFUL way to argue and communicate with your significant other. Sometimes we women get very upset and go directly for the jugular "You suck, I don't need you, I make more money, you're stupid, you do nothing for this family, I have more degrees than you...etc." But every time you demean, demoralize, disrespect, cut down, or make your husband feel less than a man what is that really doing to your relationship? What is that doi

Shopping: Let's be Frugal and Thrifty!

Hey Ya'll! Today I really just wanted to share with you some of the AMAZING deals I have found lately! Anyone who really KNOWS me know that I love country music and I love SHOPPING!!! It really is an addiction people...and I am working on that! Lol I have been referred to by several of my friends as a "label hoe" and yes that may be true but I want you to know that EVERYTHING I buy is on sale and I always try to find a coupon as well.  Not only that I also love to go "thrifting" and browsing garage sales. You will be amazed at some of the things you can find. I have noticed many communities have started garage sale pages on Facebook as well.  Below I have some items I have purchased over the last few weeks that I think were GREAT deals! I have something I found on my communities Yard Sale Facebook page, something I got from an actual garage sale, and some items I purchased new. I love to save and I love to share tips that can help the next person save as wel

This thing called FRIENDSHIP

Soooo,  Where do I begin? There are sooo many ways I can go with this post and I am not sure which one to choose so I decided to just start typing.    As a person that has moved several times I know the struggle of meeting new people and making new "friends." Once you have finished school and move forward into the real world making friends becomes a little bit tougher. Don't get me wrong, you meet A LOT of new people...you meet new co-workers and spend time with them daily, but do you really have the pleasure of making a life long friend...someone you will invite to your home for the holidays. It's possible but rare...(shout out to my Little Rock Arkansas Crew! You know who you are! DTC I miss ya'll).  Moving every other year can make things a liii-tt-le more difficult; once you have invested and you finally meet that 1 friend it's time to move on. Some how my husband and I have managed to move 5 times in the last 5 years...Sacrifice! *Blank Stare*

Part of Life is Living

Image
Hey Ya'll!!!  I know I have been missing in action for a few weeks but I have been on the go for the last few weeks. I had a craaaazy couple of weeks at work and when things finally settled down I was in travel mode. 2 weeks ago I traveled to see a friend in Arizona, which is a gorgeous place by the way, I will share pictures of that later.  AND, this past weekend I was in Mississippi seeing family and preparing for my upcoming 10 year class reunion...YES, 10 YEAR!!! (OMG)...But anywhoo... Today I wanted to share some things I have been feeling as it relates to LIFE and LIVING LIFE!! I am no expert...just a Social Worker, Mental Health Professional, and Therapist. LOL   So, earlier in the week I was riding in my car and my past came flashing before my eyes...All of these things I said I wanted to do as a child was running through my head. Everything I said I wanted to do, I wanted to accomplish, places I wanted to visit....EVEN THE PLACES I SAID I WANTED TO LIVE. So I quietly

COCOTIQUE October!

Image
Sooooo, the first thing I learned from my second blog is to NEVER say what I am going to do tomorrow! LOL When life gets busy blogging is where I fall short. With that being said I am so excited to share the October box with you.  Since this is the last box until the end of the month I have more interesting stuff to talk about which includes some goood deals that I have come across lately. SO, without further ado here is my review of the October box. This box had 6...I repeat 6 full size products which is rare in a subscription box from what I understand.  Those 6 items alone totaled approximately $68...remember the box itself only costs $20.  Each box comes with a description of what's in the box and what a full size item costs.  This is a quick shot of everything that came in the box. Below I will review each product a few at a time.  1. CURLS Defining Moments Curl Release Serum: This is a product with natural ingredients that helps to produce and define f

Quick review of COCOTIQUE September

Image
So I have sooo much to talk about today!! I was trying to decide which topic to address! So FINALLY, I decided to talk about my other topics later in the week and review  my COCOTIQUE box from September. Tomorrow I will review the October box. Side Note: I'm changing up my intro located at the top of my blog because I don't want to deter anyone from reading my blog. Though COCOTIQUE has more items that women of color can use there are SEVERAL things in the box that ALL women can use as well. My co-workers were not shy today when telling me "your blog was not for me!" Lol so I wanted to make that clear.  Now that's out of the way let's start unboxing!!!  September was my first box and the theme was "Unleash Your Inner Queen." I loved everything in this box ESPECIALLY the samples of Derma E Moisturizing Crème (which I plan to buy) and the c. Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Bath and Body Wash. I did not get a picture of each item individually because la

My First Blog!!!!!!

Hey Ya'll!!! (Obviously I am from the south! LOL) I was born and raised in Mississippi but I now live in the lovely state of TEXAS!!!!! I am very excited about starting this blog thing. I have always wanted to get into it but I have gone back and forth about what I will actually BLOG ABOUT! So this week I decided to just go for it! If someone reads it that's great and if no one reads it that's fine too! Today is really just a quick intro so that I can get an idea of how this works and what my blog actually looks like. I am trying to do this, prepare dinner, and prepare for work tomorrow...so I am sure you know how busy I am. But, to give you an idea of what COCOTIQUE is I will go into a little background information about the box. COCOTIQUE is a monthly subscription box and it is very inexpensive. It is designed for women of color but that does include more than African American women. You can pay monthly for $20, you can get a 3 month subscription for $58 (w
